about
In memoriam is a piece I wrote and recorded in 2017 in memory of Joel Cooper, a childhood friend who passed away after fighting cancer. The piece is a reflection on the transience of life, the tragedy of dying young and how we process the fragments of memories that are left in the wake of someone's passing.
While the piece was originally written for Joel, I have chosen to release it now in the shadow of George Floyd's murder as a further dedication to him and the countless others who have needlessly been robbed of their lives by the hands of oppressive systems of power.
I will donate all of the composer's share from sales to Cancer Research UK and on the 19th June 100% of Bandcamp's share is donated to the NAACP Legal Defence Fund in support of racial justice.
